ARTIST
Alexey TERENIN
Alexey Terenin was born in Moscow, in 1969.
In 1993 he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute. While studying at university, he begins his career of a graphic artist and painter, successfully combining the education of the architect and the artist’s practice in his works. He has spent part of his childhood in Prague (at that time Czechoslovakia), which influenced his work, absorbing the heritage of East and West cultures. The language of memories and associations allows him to build his own city of dreams, where in his fantasies, he chooses the time, place, and rules of the game, and then travels with his characters. Otherwise, he relates himself to realists. Art critic Alexei Vakhmanov has defined this style as magical realism.
The first personal exhibition was held in 1992 in the M’Ars Gallery.
In 1997, Aleksey Terenin worked as the product designer of the ballet “Capriccio” by Stravinsky, directed by Alexei Ratmansky
on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. Now, artist’s works can be found in private collections in the USA, Czech Republic, Italy,
Brazil and other countries in the world.
At the moment he lives and works in the city of Prague.
In Russia, exclusively represented by the Art Gallery Tolstoy (Moscow).
